ACCOUNTING TECHNICIAN

The Accounting Technician performs accounting responsibilities for all Programs and subprograms within MCE. Accuracy and timeliness of both revenue and payments to vendors are imperative to the continued economic viability and therefore the continuance of the Division and programs. CLINICAL THERAPIST

JOB OVERVIEW – Join our team at the new Flathead Valley Reentry Center! The new prerelease center will provide a safe, structured environment in which offenders can prepare for release. This position will serve as a key member of the facility’s treatment and programming team by delivering evidence-based services to meet the mental health needs of facility residents.
- The clinical therapist position will ensure that the clinical needs of the resident population are met through clinical assessments, evaluations, diagnoses, therapeutic groups and individual sessions, emergency evaluations and management. The position will conduct clinical consultations, observations, and referrals necessary to meet resident needs.
- This position will coordinate with facility case managers for discharge planning and connection to community-based services.
- Management case files and records for residents in treatment for mental and emotional illness is required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in social work, psychology, or counseling.
- 1 year of job-related experience.
- Must be licensed or able to be licensed as a licensed clinical social worker or licensed clinical professional counselor by the state of Montana.

The Montana State Prison Dental Department is seeking a dedicated and skilled Dentist to join our healthcare team in delivering high-quality preventive and comprehensive dental care to incarcerated adult male offenders.
As part of the facility's healthcare services, the Dental Department provides a full spectrum of dental procedures—from routine cleanings and preventive care to complex restorative and prosthetic treatments. Working under the direction of the Director of Dental Services, the Dentist will serve a population of over 1,500 incarcerated adult males.
- Provide comprehensive dental services, including diagnosis, treatment planning, and execution of care.
- Examine patients and diagnose dental/oral health conditions.
- Prescribe and perform appropriate dental treatments.

DISCIPLINARY HEARINGS OFFICER

The Disciplinary Hearings Officer (DHO) assists with providing appropriate due process to inmate rule violation proceedings. The DHO primarily conducts inmate discipline hearings for major rule violations. The DHO bears primary responsibility to ensure that the Prison’s interests related to inmate discipline are successful and effective. Those interests include maintaining the institution in a safe, secure, and orderly manner, ensuring that inmates exercise proper discipline and restraint in their interaction with staff and other behavior while incarcerated, employing sanctions to encourage/enforce compliance with facility rules, regulations and other requirements, and utilizing a system which conditions the level of due process to the unique needs of the prison environment.

FOOD SERVICE STAFF
FLATHEAD VALLEY REENTY CENTER

The Food Service Staff are responsible for supervising and training offenders in the preparation and serving of meals for consumption by 90 offenders, 35 state employees at the Flathead Valley Reentry Center (Prerelease Center) in Kalispell, MT. This requires knowledge related to security, food handling and safety, management of institutional equipment, proportion sizes, and inventory management.
This position will supervise and train a constantly changing offender work force in large quantity preparation, cooking and baking as well as maintenance of health and sanitation standards as established by the Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services to ensure the education of offenders while meeting menu, health and safety requirements. It will aid in establishing offender work schedules to ensure the smooth and orderly operation of the kitchen.
This position will assist in coordination with other MDOC Divisions to order food supplies. The position will collaborate with nursing staff, and co-workers and use religious information to ensure the availability of special needs menus and make necessary menu and operational changes based on available information and knowledge of food service requirements, policies, laws and standards. The position will assist in ensuring the accuracy of all incoming and out-going stock, handling emergencies/changes created by supply shortages, equipment failures, contamination, theft and/or prep work requirements.
This position may be required to work non-typical work hours (other than Monday through Friday 8am-5pm) and is located in a correctional facility.
QUALIFICATIONS

- High School diploma or equivalency required . Associate’s degree in food service management or a closely related field is preferred.
- Two years of experience in large-scale food p reparations and service.
- One year of supervisory experience is preferred.

MAINTENANCE WORKER

In this position, you’ll perform a variety of skilled maintenance tasks to ensure our buildings, grounds, and equipment remain in top condition. NURSE’S AIDE

The Infirmary Unit provides inpatient care with 24-hour nursing coverage in a 13-bed unit and provides medical management for 1400+ inmates. The Nursing Aide provides direct care and medical case management to the inmates housed in the Infirmary and in the prison general population.
- Medical management includes initial screening/assessment, triage and appropriate referral, daily sick call, medication administration, med-surg, psych, urgent/emergent, quality improvement, chronic care program, and infection control.
- Provide treatment services, counseling, and teaching in the performance of daily living activities.
- Provides security and safety within the confines of the institution with the focus of security responsibilities in the Infirmary.
- Help reduce the effects of medical illness on the inmate's overall functional status so that they may be reintegrated into the prison population and/or the community.

PREA/GRIEVANCE PROGRAM OFFICER

The PREA/Grievance Program Officer is responsible for tasks related to compliance with the Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003 (PREA), as well as handling of offender grievances. The Montana Department of Corrections has a zero-tolerance policy relating to all forms of sexual abuse and harassment in accordance with the policies set forth in PREA.
PREA Manager Duties:
- Develops, implements, and oversees the facility’s activities related to ensuring compliance with PREA.
- Plans and conducts PREA administrative investigations potentially involving offenders, staff, volunteers, and contractors. The investigations may include allegations of violation of law, policies or rules, discipline, staff misconduct, and require this position to provide support to staff attorneys, prosecutors, and agency management.
- Gathers physical evidence and other information relevant to the investigation. Prepares detailed, accurate, and timely PREA Summary Reports and helps to ensure that all relevant documents are submitted to the case files.
- Receives and reviews facility Incident Reports which identify information which may be used to detect sexual abuse and sexual harassment or indications of abnormal offender or staff activity.
- Identifies and locates witnesses, victims and suspects and may conduct interviews of all parties by using proper interview techniques in administrative investigations.
- May testify in criminal, civil and administrative actions as the investigating officer for the department to ensure successful prosecution or determination of the incident.
Grievance Coordinator Duties:
- Oversees the facility’s grievance program with responsibilities including, but not limited to, collecting, reviewing, responding to, and tracking offender grievances.
- Ensures all staff are trained to understand the process and their associated responsibilities.
- Ensures all offenders receive information on initiation and use of the grievance process.
Tracks, analyzes, and reports data regarding PREA and grievance-related activities at the facility to facility and agency management.

QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST

The Quality Assurance Specialist will ensure the facility’s adherence to evidence-based practices related to security, treatment, and programming. This position will be responsible for the implementation of continuous quality improvement measures related to risk/needs assessments, facilitated treatment and programming, and security protocols. The Quality Assurance Specialist will be expected to undergo certification in the Correctional Program Checklist, for the purpose of measuring how well programs adhere to research. This includes technical report writing and expectation of travel to other facilities around the state. In addition, this position will:
- Assist with the development and implementation of facility protocols, which includes providing some educational and training materials to facility staff.
- Assist in updating, reviewing, and determining applicable policies and procedures for the facility.
- This position is located in a correctional facility and will have daily contact with program residents who are adult offenders sentenced for felony convictions.
QUALIFICATIONS
The knowledge, skills and abilities for this position are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or a helping profession (social work, psychology, clinical, etc.) or a related field is required.
- Two years of directly related work experience preferred.

JOB OVERVIEW – This position will serve as a Registered Nurse and provide medical management services to offenders at the Flathead Valley Reentry Center.
- Medical management includes initial screening/assessment, triage and appropriate referral, sick call, medication administration, psych, urgent/emergent, continuous quality improvement, chronic care, infection control, and transition planning.
- RNs spend considerable time walking, bending, kneeling, stretching and standing; they must follow proper body mechanics and procedures for lifting/moving patients.
- Corrections Nurses may face hazards from exposure to chemicals and infectious diseases. In addition, nurses in this position must have and maintain sufficient strength, agility and endurance to perform during physical, mental, and emotional situations encountered on the job without compromising their health and well-being.
- In a correctional environment, all staff receive specific training in the areas of security and correctional procedures and there are many security measures in place. Nurses working in correctional facilities must accept that the fundamental mission of a correctional facility is first and foremost public safety and security. REHABILITATION SPECIALIST
FLATHEAD VALLEY REENTRY CENTER

JOB OVERVIEW – This position is located in the new Flathead Valley Reentry Center. The facility is a prerelease center, focused on providing rehabilitative services in support of offender reentry, while ensuring offender accountability and public safety. This position provides social and rehabilitation services to offenders in this program through offender risk assessment and delivery of program services targeting risk and need areas.
- Responsibilities include assessment and analysis of offender data, evaluation of the need for program participation, analysis and interpretation of test results and production of post-program reports. Candidates will assess offender programing needs on a continuous basis to evaluate offender progress and develop and revise case plans and goals.
- This position will complete assessments and group interventions. Candidates will motivate and deliver effective correctional programs conforming to stringent quality assurance standards that meet with the specific needs of the offenders.
- The position will liaise with other employees internal and external to the facility to ensure the exchange of relevant information about treatment plans
- This position will work in a facility that houses adult offenders with felony convictions. Some of the population can be sex offenders, individuals with substance use disorders, or mental health needs.
- Because of offender needs and program requirements, this position may be required to work non-traditional work shifts (other than Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm).
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree required in criminal justice, sociology, social work, criminology psychology, education, social science, addiction counseling, therapy, or a related field.
- One year of experience working with sex offenders, individuals with substance use disorder, and/or mental health

SECURITY STAFF
FLATHEAD VALLEY PRERELEASE CENTER

JOB OVERVIEW - This position is responsible for the overall safety and security of offenders, staff and visitors of the Flathead Valley Prerelease Center. Security Staff help ensure the institution is operated for the safety of the public, as well as the incarceration, treatment and rehabilitation of the offender population.
Security staff supervise adult male felons while in the custody of Flathead Valley Prerelease Center. Security staff are responsible for a wide variety of security duties relative to the safe, orderly and cost effective operation of this community corrections facility. Security staff perform a wide variety of tasks including, but not limited to, conducting thorough inspections and searches of offender, buildings and grounds, performing security observation, preparing documentation regarding facility matters such as incident reports, disciplinary documentation, counts and logs, operating security equipment, recognizing critical behavior, restraining and controlling offenders, conducting substance use testing duties, and responding to emergencies.
Security staff enforce and follow rules and regulations including, but not limited to written and/or oral directives and special instructions in addition to policies and procedures which dictate daily, routine and emergency procedures.
Security staff provide intervention for adult male felons in the custody of the Flathead Valley Reentry Center by facilitating and/or overseeing facility entrance security, first aid, janitorial and housekeeping duties completed by offenders, transportation of offenders, offender movement both inside and out of the facility, as well as other services as required.
UPON HIRE
- Successful completion of on-the-job training.
- Annual TB testing is mandatory.
Minimum Physical/Mental Requirements
- Climbing.

VICTIM WITNESS COORDINATOR
REHABILITATION AND PROGRAMS

The Victim Witness Coordinator assists victims of crime, protect and advocate for the rights of victims, provide necessary information and prevent further victimization.
- This position develops and conducts training for service-agencies, community-based programs and criminal justice personnel.
- Coordinate interagency safety planning for victims of high-risk offenders confined in MDOC facilities, county jails, or living in the community under supervision of the Department.
- Collaborate with Probation and Parole Officers during the Pre-Sentence Investigation (PSI) process, the risk assessment process, the development of offender supervision plans, the conditional release process and reentry planning to ensure that information from victim(s) is appropriately considered and integrated into these processes.
- Develop and maintain a network of collaborative partnerships with victim advocates, criminal justice agencies, and other community-based service providers in support of victim safety during offender reintegration into the community in high-risk situations.
QUALIFICATIONS
The knowledge, skills and abilities for this position are typically acquired through a combination of education and experience equivalent to:
- A bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or related field.
- Three years of experience in a position in which the primary job responsibility is providing services to victims of crime; or a total of five years of experience in a position in which the primary job responsibility is providing services to victims of crime is equivalent.
- Serving as a volunteer under a victim services program is considered experience and should be included in work history.
- Credentialing within 18 months of start date.
