Visiting the Youth Transition Center
The Youth Transition Center (YTC) is a seven-bed facility serving adjudicated adolescent males who have failed in a community placement and/or require a step-down program when returning to the community from the Pine Hills Youth Correctional Facility.
The Youth Transition Center emphasizes an evidence-based approach in the life skills programs it provides. These programs include educational and employment opportunities. Depending on their needs, youths may also receive outpatient treatment from private providers for chemical dependency, mental health and sexual offender counseling.
YTC staff members must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent, and two years’ experience working with juveniles. The Department of Corrections provides further job-specific training.
