  DOC's Collection Unit has collected court-ordered crime victim restitution from adult felony offenders since the new program started on October 1,2003.

  Staff for the Collection Unit under Administrative and Financial Services includes: Collection Manager, Lisa Grady and Seven Collection Technicians; Stephanie Boudreau, Lissy Scow, Keena Hinman, Steve Brady, Edie Shreves and Kelly Martinez in the Helena Central Office, and Michele Cook at Montana State Prison in Deer Lodge.
  House Bill 220, passed by the 2003 Legislature, clarified that the Department of Corrections can collect restitution from offenders' prison accounts, earnings after their release, and property. The restitution obligation remains with the offender until it is fully paid or, upon their death, the balance attaches to their estate.
